Why no insurance?

The direct care model—also known as direct pay or cash-only psychiatry—offers several significant benefits for patients seeking mental health care. This model focuses on a straightforward, patient-centered approach where individuals pay directly for their services, bypassing insurance companies and traditional billing processes. In summary, the direct care model allows patients to have more control over their mental health treatment, with fewer financial and administrative barriers. This means patients can receive high-quality, personalized care that is more focused on their well-being and less influenced by insurance company limitations.

Here's how the direct care model benefits you:

1. More Time with Your Psychiatrist: Direct care practices can offer longer sessions, allowing patients more time to discuss their concerns, ask questions, and work on treatment plans without feeling rushed.

2. No Insurance Hassles: With the direct pay model, patients don't need to worry about insurance pre-approvals, copays, or denials. The process is straightforward—pay for the service you receive, without the red tape.

3. Increased Flexibility and Control: Since direct care practices don’t work with insurance companies, patients can receive a wider variety of treatments and therapies tailored to their needs.

4. Confidentiality and Privacy: With no insurance involvement, your medical records are kept strictly private between you and your provider, helping maintain confidentiality.

5. Better Patient-Provider Relationship: With no additional administrative burden, Dr. Harvin is able to work with patients directly without any middlemen. Also, direct pay models eliminate the need for insurance networks, allowing patients to establish a lasting, more consistent relationship with their psychiatrist without concerns over network restrictions.

6. Faster Access to Care: Traditional insurance-based models often require approval for services, which can create delays. In a direct care model, patients can schedule appointments more quickly and start treatment without the waiting periods that often come with insurance claims.
